چکیده

− The study presented in this paper aims to develop a new method for active and reactive power balancing in a four-wire stand-alone microgrid (MG), which feds single phase loads. Two unbalance compensation controllers are used, for active and reactive powers. The compensation is based on a dump load (DL) and a static compensator (STATCOM), which ensure the balance of the active and reactive powers. The DL has the main role of frequency controller, but it is used for active power balancing between phases, too. The STATCOM accomplishes only the redistribution of the reactive power unbalance between phases, not the power factor correction. Thus, its rated power is low, according to the maximum reactive power unbalance that can be expected in the MG. This combination of the power converters ensures a good power quality, regarding the MG power balancing. Simulations and experiments were carried out, both showing the effectiveness of the proposed solution.

A New Control Strategy for Voltage Restoration and Voltage Unbalance Compensation in an Islanded Droop-Controlled Microgrid

Low voltage microgrids including sensitive loads often face unbalanced load conditions. Therefore, a compensation procedure should be carried out in order to balance and restore sensitive load’s voltage. In this paper, an effective voltage control strategy has been proposed for the autonomous operation of microgrids, under unbalanced load conditions.  The proposed strategy balances single-phase...

Coordination Control Strategy for AC/DC Hybrid Microgrids in Stand-Alone Mode

Abstract: Interest in DC microgrids is rapidly increasing along with the improvement of DC power technology because of its advantages. To support the integration process of DC microgrids with the existing AC utility grids, the form of hybrid AC/DC microgrids is considered for higher power conversion efficiency, lower component cost and better power quality. In the system, AC and DC portions are...

Analysis and compensation of voltage unbalance of a DFIG using predictive rotor current control

This paper analyzes the unbalance problem of a stand-alone doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG) under unbalanced loads and proposes a compensation method to balance the stator output voltage. The proposed compensation method is developed based on a predictive current control (PCC) method implemented in the rotor current controller. The development of the PCC is based on the discrete model of t...
